Motorcycle registrations in the EU continue to increase during the first nine months of 2015

A total of 1,010,413 powered-two and three-wheelers were registered during the first nine months of 2015 in the EU.

This represents an increase of 4.4% compared to the 967,368 vehicles registered during the same period of 2014.

Registrations performed positively in Spain (116,475 units, +19.9%), the UK (94,248 units, +12.3%), Italy (168,831 units, 6.4%), and Germany (161,484 units, +2.7%). They decreased in France (196,434 units, -2.6%).

Motorcycle registrations

Cumulative motorcycle registrations grew by 10.1% during the first nine months of 2015 on a year-on year basis. A total of 752,251 motorcycles were registered between January and September 2015, against 683,173 during the same period of 2014.

Year-on-year motorcycle registrations increased in all key European markets, namely Spain (104,349 units, +21.6%), the UK (86,972 units, +15.1%), Italy (148,554 units, +9.9%), Germany (137,186 units, +7.0%), and France (127,224 units, +0.4%).

Moped registrations

A total of 258,162 mopeds were registered during the first nine months of 2015 in the EU, whilst 284,195 mopeds had been registered during the same period of 2014. This represents a decrease of 9.2%.

Registrations increased in Spain (12,126, + 7.3%), although they decreased in France (69,210 units, -8.6%), the UK (7,276 units, -12.3%), Germany (24,298 units, -16.2%) and Italy (20,277 units, -13.6%).
