The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) was founded in Brussels in 1994 to represent the largest manufacturers of mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles (L-category vehicles) with active presence on the European market.
Currently, our organisation brings together 17 multinational companies and 19 national industry associations.
ACEM promotes a constructive dialogue with European, national and local authorities, as well as relevant stakeholders sharing technical knowledge and good practices deployed in the L-category sector from the vehicle design to the end-of-life phases.
Our raison d’être is to secure a positive societal impact and advance understanding of industry positions on relevant policy issues such as road safety, environment, mobility and market competitiveness.
We believe that only a constructive private and public engagement can support a better regulatory framework for the benefit of a stronger industry, and a more comprehensive knowledge of the European motorcycle sector with facts and statistics. Overall, this will lead to a better understanding of the contribution from powered two-wheelers and other L-category vehicles to society.
The use of motorcycles and other L-category vehicles as a mode of transport combines both efficiency and passion, standing as a true partner to deploy the mobility of the future.
With approximately 40 million L-category vehicles on European roads and streets, our sector enables the mobility of people and goods, enhancing social welfare and economic growth while improving access to fundamental services both in urban and rural areas.
Our membership is committed to delivering and better responding to current and future mobility needs of citizens in a European Union that is set to be more sustainable, more digital and safer in the coming years.
In a mobility sector having a full transformation, the immediate work for ACEM is built on five strategic challenges, working hand in hand with the European Union and its Member States:
