ACEM highlights the importance of the motorcycle sector at the Italian Senate

ACEM participated in the conference  “Due Ruote in Italia, ANCMA: Facciamo Sentire la Nostra Voceengaging public authorities and industry representatives during the Italian motorcycle sector overview presentation at the Senate.

The event unveiled the results of a study carried by the consulting firm Bain & Company Italia for our member ANCMA (Associazione Nazionale Ciclo Motociclo Accessori) highlighting the motorcycle industry’s economic significance.

During the roundtable discussion, Antonio Perlot, Secretary General of ACEM, stressed Italy’s prominent position within Europe’s motorcycle sector both in terms of industry and usage. In line with the vision at the European level, he called for stronger and forward-looking policies to enhance the sector’s competitiveness supported by further funding for research and innovation to secure and improve the sector’s long-term growth within the framework of the “Green Industrial Deal,“. At the local level, as already part of the Italian culture, further integration of L-category vehicles (mopeds, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles) into Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans will reinforce throughout Europe the social benefits the motorcycle sector brings to citizens.

Perlot also emphasized the importance of collaboration within the sector and referred to the Motorcycling Manifesto as a joint industry-users initiative, seeking to promote motorcycling as an urban mobility solution and a leisure activity towards policymakers, at European, National and local levels.
