It is with profound sadness that ACEM shares the tragic news of the death of IMMA Secretary General, Edwin Bastiaensen.
As a former staff member of the ACEM Secretariat, Edwin was a significant contributor to the work of our industry. Edwin passionately promoted the benefits of 2-wheeled mobility around the world, promoting 2-wheel road safety and transport policy best practices towards numerous international organizations. For several decades Edwin was a thought leader and much-loved friend and colleague to so many in the motorcycling community in Europe and far beyond. ACEM staff and members deeply mourn his loss together with the global motorcycle community.
ACEM Secretary General, Antonio Perlot: “Edwin was both an esteemed colleague and a great friend, whom people involved in ACEM activities and the wider motorcycling world had the privilege to know for more than twenty years. Coming to terms with his passing is very difficult, as he leaves a huge vacuum both at professional and personal levels, within the industry and with those who had the opportunity to meet him. Rest in peace, Edwin.”
