The theme of the event will be “Sustainable motorcycling in Europe” and it will address how policy-makers, civil society and the motorcycle sector can work together to promote policies that improve the sustainability of Europe’s transport system whilst protecting skilled jobs in Europe.
Some of the topics that will be discussed include:
- Motorcycling in cities, traffic congestion and local environmental policies
- Regulation 168/2013 on type-approval of L-category vehicles and environmental standards
- Engine efficiency and electrification of transport
- Pollutant emissions (HC, NOx, PM)
- GEAR 2030 and the future of the automotive sector in Europe
- Latest market trends

A well-known motorcyclist with a keen interest in sustainability issues, Mr Lange participated in the discussions on the Commission’s proposal to implement the Euro2 and Euro3 environmental standards for motorcycles.
Before joining the European Parliament, he was Head of the economic, environmental and Europe unit of the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and a member of IG Metall, the most important metalworkers’ union in Germany.
He studied Protestant theology and political sciences at the University of Göttingen.
