IARC 2025 – 24th International Automotive Recycling Congress

The End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Regulation is expanding, and for the first time, motorcycles will be included in its scope—alongside commercial heavy-duty vehicles. This significant shift highlights the crucial role of manufacturers in advancing sustainable vehicle design and recycling.

Motorcycle, car, truck, and bus manufacturers need to take an active role in preparing for the significant responsibilities and financial implications that new European regulations and policies on critical raw materials and decarbonisation will bring. The ELV Regulation introduces new rules for vehicle design and end-of-life management, requiring motorcycles, lorries and buses to be treated at authorised treatment facilities, and restricting the export of non-roadworthy vehicles.

As part of our efforts to contribute to the circular economy and support the EU green objectives, ACEM is part of the program presenting the ACEM position on supporting a sustainable inclusion for motorcycles in the ELV Regulation.
