Brussels - 18 September 2013 – For the second year in a row Motorcycle Manufacturers will participate to the European Mobility Week by presenting the latest innovations in the field of two-wheeled urban mobility. An amazing line-up of authentic premieres in terms of alternative and more sustainable propulsion systems will be showcased on the Esplanade of the European Parliament in the context of Sustainable 2Wheels.

Faithful to the tagline “Beat the traffic, enjoy the city”, motorcycle manufacturers are presenting new ground-breaking models contributing to the evolution of sustainable urban mobility.

Live demonstrations of the world’s first hydrogen fuel cell Powered Two-Wheeler to earn type approval, will be scheduled at 13.15, 14.00 and 15.00. Electric mopeds and scooters will also be available for testing on Place du Luxembourg.

ACEM’s wide-ranging line-up of urban motorcycles and scooters intends to highlight how these mobility tools contribute to addressing the challenge of our congested cities.

ACEM members are very serious when it comes to innovative solutions to urban transport, proving that the motorcycle sector is taking a fully committed approach to sustainable mobility. Scooters, motorcycles, tricycles and quadricycles contribute to making urban transport more sustainable by offering great solutions for users who seek individual mobility alternatives in congested cities. They are small, light, agile and very well adapted to the challenges of urban traffic, reducing travel and parking times, with low costs and reduced environmental impact. Local authorities benefit from adding these vehicles to their mobility mix and including them in Sustainable Urban Mobility Plans, supporting improved urban quality of life.

Now in its 4th year, Sustainable 2Wheels seeks to present new solutions and innovations in the field of urban mobility and how they contribute to cleaner, greener, healthier living environments. Sustainable 2Wheels is taking place on September 18th on the esplanade of the European Parliament from 9 a.m. till 3.30 p.m.

Visit the ACEM stand, where manufacturers will showcase an exciting line-up of innovative, fuel efficient and enjoyable vehicles - from ultra-efficient internal combustion engines, to zero emissions electric and fuel cell propulsions, and new vehicle architectures.  Pictures and videos will become available after the event on www.acem.eu.

Quote:

Jacques Compagne, ACEM Secretary General: “The European Mobility week is an exceptional opportunity to familiarize the public with greener technologies. We have always maintained that PTW are sustainable by nature due to their reduced size, their light-weight and their excellent real life performance in traffic conditions. Next to these intrinsic characteristics manufacturers have developed new solutions making new propulsion systems a reality, which ACEM is proud to present to the public today.”
