Supporting a Sustainable Inclusion for Motorcycles in the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation

For over 20 years, the End-of-Life Vehicles (ELV) Directive has transformed how we dismantle, recycle, and dispose of vehicles across Europe.

Last year, the European Commission proposed a review of the framework, expanding its scope to include motorcycles – something ACEM has advocated for. This crucial step demonstrates our industry’s commitment to environmental sustainability and advancing a more circular economy.

While we fully support extending the provisions, including additional measures beyond what the Commission has proposed, we also recognize the complexities this brings. A fair and manageable transition period is essential to allow manufacturers the time needed to adjust their processes without compromising competitiveness.
