Research, innovation and collaboration lead the way in motorcycle safety

Cologne (Germany) | 12 December 2024

On 5 and 6 December, the German Institute for Motorcycle Safety (Institut für Zweiradsicherheit e.V., IFZ) hosted the 15th edition of its International Motorcycle Conference alongside the 2024 INTERMOT in Cologne. The event brought together researchers, road safety experts, and industry representatives to exchange ideas and explore cutting-edge research on improving safety for powered two-wheelers.

As partners of the conference, ACEM actively contributed to the discussions, focusing on the industry’s vision and technological advancements. A highlight of ACEM’s participation was the special session Riding Together to the Future, which showcased the motorcycling sector’s contributions to society through the Motorcycling Manifesto and the Industry Vision 2030+. This session focused on the industry’s commitment to road safety by advancing vehicle safety technologies, promoting sustainable transport policies, investing in safer road infrastructure, and encouraging responsible road user behaviour.

The session also featured three presentations from experts representing the industry, suppliers, and academia. These highlighted current and future innovative safety technologies, underscoring the promising path of collaboration within the motorcycling community. The exchange reflected on the broader societal goal of achieving zero road fatalities by 2050.
